“If one were to gauge American society from the school's novel selection, there would be many important cultural influences sadly lacking. The students need exposure to cultures such as those found in the pages of The Way to Rainy Mountain and the Secret Lives of Bees. The students tend to limit themselves to limited and biased opportunities regarding diverse cultures; books that reveal other cultures could be the opening for many learning moments. I am asking for class sets of thirty books of Rainy Mountain and/or Secret Lives of Bees. Thank you.”
