“My students have moderate, severe and profound disabilities. They have a variety of physical limitations. Because of these exceptionalities, my students require many different kinds of supplies to help them participate in every school environment, communicate and learn. Some of the materials that I need are simple classroom items such as construction paper, glue, crayons, markers, and office materials. Other materials are more specific to my students needs such as positioning items, sensory materials, specialized software and curriculum materials. Because the Governor of my state, as many other State Governors have done, has imposed financial restrictions on the State’s school systems. Additionally, my ability to spend even a little money from my own pocket has been severely limited by mandatory furlough days.”
