“I am an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher. I help students who are newly arrived to the United States feel comfortable and welcome in our learning environment. It is extremely important to me that my students see our classroom as a place to feel safe so that they are better able to learn and express themselves freely. We work as a class community to transform what once was just a classroom into a home away from home. ”

I think it would be wonderful for them to be able to discover the joy of reading the way so many of the rest of us do; by curling up on the couch with a favorite story... Learn more »
As an ESL class, we are working on improving the students' language fluency in both writing and reading. These binders will allow each student to maintain a word study personal reader. In these binders students will "collect" new words they learn, leveled books they find challenging but workable, copies of poems we learn as a class, and word banks for that week's word sort. This will empower the students to attack reading with a valuable tool to help them learn English. Learn more »
