“I am a third year teacher at P.S. 5 and currently teach first grade. My students are very smart and are extremely creative when given the opportunity. Unfortunately, my school is considered a low income school and the children are not as fortunate as others when it comes resources and specialty programs such as art and music. Although we have an art and music teacher, students do not have these classes year round due to scheduling and budgeting issues. It would be wonderful to have additional art supplies so my students may have more opportunities to express themselves through various mediums. Because I am passionate about art, I try to incorporate it across the curriculum. My students love art too but we are running out of the necessary supplies to support this kind of work in the classroom. It is the wish of my class to have a variety of crayons, markers, colored pencils, paper, and glue so that they may experience art in the most meaningful way.”

Crayons would allow my students to express themselves creatively throughout various subjects and would allow them to illustrate their all their writing Learn more »
These colored pencils would also allow my students to express themselves through another medium. Having this amount would be great so that each child has all the various colors at his or her disposal when creating a piece or illustrating work. Learn more »
Large paper allows students to create bigger pieces of art work including collages and paintings. The color variety is also great so that their work may be done in exactly the colors they want. Learn more »
Tissue paper will allow the students to expand on their creativity by cutting, folding and gluing the delicate paper into collages and other forms of art work. It's fun and exciting for them to use paper other than construction paper Learn more »
Students are constantly wearing down the erasers on the backs of their pencils especially when they are revising and editing their work. They would really benefit from having these individual erasers to use through out the day Learn more »
