“I teach the visual arts to 9th and 10th grade students at a new small school in the Bronx, NY. My students come in with a range of knowledge and abilities. Some have taken art classes since elementary school, and have had practice with several art materials, while others have never taken art, and have never been taught how to use a ruler! My job is challenging in that respect, but always rewarding. What never changes, with every year I teach, is this comment made by the students, "Is the period over already?!"

I work to prepare my students for the International Baccalaureate Visual Arts course, where, in 11th and 12th grade, students are expected to design their own projects within a personal theme, and keep a detailed Investigation Workbook. It is my goal to find artistic potential in students and help them discover it themselves. ”
